Good day from PA.

I am heading to Stowe to do some skiing in February and I am doing my RF research now. I know the area is super rural and a lack of listeners probably explains the bleak database entries. I am specifically looking for mountain operations. I see Vail Resorts (Stowe's parent company) is licensed to operate VHF DMR at the resort location using WRUZ296. Based on the resort and the license, I bet this is a Cap+ system. I do plan on brining a laptop and a few SDR dongles to sniff this out but any help ahead of time is super appreciated.

If anybody reading this lives semi close to the resort, please let me know if you can help me get the ball rolling ahead of time. If you don't have the equipment, I can send some your way and remotely decode the system to get a DB entry going.

Any other advice is welcome but I have low expectations given the current state of the DB.

Thank you.

You might want to take a look here:

Go to SNE Wiki, the Vermont portal, recreational facilities. There is a fair amount of information on Stowe with fairly recent confirmation dates.

Thanks for the website. There is a ton more over there than here. I'm curious if Stowe is still analog. I see other resorts in the area switched to Cap+ since the last time anything at Stowe has been confirmed. If anybody within listening range can let me know one way or another, that would be great.

What is nice about the SNE wiki, They (we) keep track of reported recent/last uses.
So if it indicates Analog within the past year, likely still Analog unless they did a major off-season revamp

Sadly, IMHO and experience, has been folks tend to want the PD/FD/EMS only, so submissions for the off 911 stuff is by those folks who take a more indepth interest in monitoring [ie: if it transmits, we find / report it]

enjoy your trip and share what you do find during your visit

You'd be very surprised. Several members both here and at SNE tend to take several trips a year up that way, and these are members who are actually interested in the ski operations. The site WX1N linked to has a lot of dates and you'll many of them are recent. In particular 3 - 4 members are regulars up there. I too was up there, but over the summer, however was able to identify some of the stuff as well.

The lack of the DB is simply due to the lack of submissions received here. But that's all there is. I (try to) maintain the VT DB to keep is accurate and up to date but there is very little feedback that comes here for me to do so.

However when you go, you can help. I also suggest you sign up for a membership at that other site and submit your findings there too.¹

(Disclaimer. ¹ - I own that other site. lol)

Thanks all. Looks like y'all are pretty confident Stowe is still analog. I'll still bring my laptop and dongles just in case. I was looking forward to using my new VHF R7 for something but looks like it'll just be some analog ham stuff. Will also have my Apx there as well.
