I was looking at the Wiki and did not see a program that suports the Pro96 or 2096 for streaming over the internet. Is there software avaliable that will do this?

There is all kinds of software out there. Just look around in this forum and you will find something.

The reason for that is that there is no way to access the scanner via computer for displaying the alpha tags. You can still stream the audio though, you would use the same setup as any other scanner. Look around on google for how to stream a scanner using icecast or shoutcast.

Someone from Minnesota was streaming a PRO-96 using a webcam so you could see the display. I really wish the PRO-96 could be controlled remotely because it has the best audio.

Thanks! That is what I was afraid of. I guess I will have to look at getting a Uniden. Bummer!

Why would you consider a Uniden a "bummer"? Right now the Uniden line of scanners are king.

I'm doing the same thing with mine...I really do wish there was a way to get some type of display on the computer from the Pro-96 but oh well, it's okay to dream....

I don't mean anything bad about the scanners It's just my employer purchased 2 Pro96's and a 2096. I was hoping to use one in the office to stream for the reporters and editors at their desks. I don't think they will go for a fourth scanner that is different then the rest.

I say go ahead and stream it - who gives a hoot if the tags don't show up! The software to do it is free and if you have an IT guy at your station who knows how to spell "IP Address" he can make it work. Not only will your staffers like it, but if you make the link external your viewers will like it too. Where are you located? I'm sure one of us who has the knowledge needed is close enough to you to stop by and set things up for ya.

I'm just south of Indianapolis. I talked to my IT person and we are looking at redoing our web sit next year so right now they don't want to mess with it. I tried.
