I happened across this antenna ad on Epay and followed a link to the most outrageous crock of s#*t I've seen in awhile. This company arranges a telescoping whip, a folding basket from a vegetable steamer and some other parts to vaguely resemble a UHF satcom antenna, then advertises it as "HF through 3GHz band". They also include a "software defined radio" board from their "Space Initiation & Target Agitation Team" that has among other things a digital feed, entrenched platen, RAM bed and other silly words that have no meaning. Check out Epay item # 300182031645 or http://www.pikeenterprises.com/ and see their communications or defense & security products. Enjoy the comedy show.

Ya know, my dad used to have me put aluminum foil on the TV rabbit ears and have me stand there and move the foil until the reception was improved.. I should make some of those "tuneable" attennas and sell 'em. I could use the coin.

The best one that I actually ordered ( I was curious as to what is really inside), is the Nomad WPN-97. Just got it in the mail yesterday. Everyone seems to think the tube has a wound element in it. It's a tuned plate with a split for the standard TV antenna feed line used for aerials inside that tube.

I may be wrong...maybe it will improve my reception...but I'm guessing not. Will take pics before I put it up and report back.

they look like something a eccentric inventor slapped together in a garage with everyday parts. they look cool as far as that classic do it yourself in the garage from a eccentric inventor but not for the serious radio user. I wonder how good they actually work though. The BNC whip for the scanner they have looks like my first coiled whip i built and stuck in a phono to bnc as a first dualband attempt one time.

I wondered when someone was going to post that.

Not only is the antenna bad enough he has that thing included he calls a software defined radio.

Edit: I just looked at his website. His "SDR" radio is supposedly constructed of a bed of Aerogel! I kept looking around to find the obvious signs that it's a joke site but man it's really starting to look like he's actually accepting payments and willing to outright scam anyone stupid enough to wander by and fall for it.

My favorite is the steamer insert, trivet, eggbeater antenna.

It's deliciously ironic that all of their antennas are named after a snake.

We need to drop a dime on this d-bag. I don't know if the IFCC takes those types of complaints or not. I only see them from the other side but surely there is someone that can kindly tell him to F.O.
