Hi All:

Anyone know what is rebroadcast on the freqs of 453.1125 and 453.0875? I have some noise on the 46.340 frequency, which is 1st division, and would like to monitor the UHF retransmissions, but I notice they are not rebroadcasts of 46.340. What activity is broadcast on the UHF freqs?

Thanks!

Did you look in the data base??
I have the BCFA in my scanner with 466 dpl
I see you are asking about suffolk freqs
The first one 453.11250 is shared by depts in nass and suff

These were all obtained from the fcc database

453.11250* BCFA - 1st Division* 466 DPL*
453.11250 PLAINVIEW FIRE DEPT
453.11250 EAST MEADOW FIRE DISTRICT 192.8
453.11250 DEER PARK FIRE DISTRICT

453.08750 MEDFORD FIRE DISTRICT

Yes, I looked in the database. My question was what gets rebroadcasted on those freqs? It is not a rebroadcast of the 1st div freq of 46.340. Also, what is transmitted on the Babylon central Fire Alarm (BCFA) freq?

Hey Scott,
What are you hearing on 453.0875?

I have on my list, that 453.0875 is Babylon Central Fire Alarm - Crossband. (pl-88.5)

I’m unsure if that is what it is used for, but that is what I have it labeled as in my database.

I think nothing, I get some traffic on one of those freqs, I think it is 453.1125, I'll have to listen again. I don't think the 453.0875 freq is active, but I'll do some listening tomorrow. I was hoping one of those freqs would be useful to me to monitor for Div 1 traffic, as I get some intermittent noise using the discone on the low band freq. But they seem not to be simulcasting the 46 meg freq.

None of those are rebroadcasts of 46.46. That's Countywide FD. I deffenately just comfirmed that.

And it's been rumored that all of the first division departments are simulcasted to UHF from 46.34 because it's terrible reception up on the North Shore, so they use UHF. That frequency has yet to be identified by me, and I've been hearing that "rumor" ever since I started scanning four years ago. I guess we'll find out sooner or later.

I just heard 46.46 come over on 453.1625 94.8
I hear many first division depts on this freq
I reside in East Farmingdale

I have 2 scanners
one with 46.46
one with 453.1625
Just heard m/a to north lindy on both freqs at the same time

Seems simulcasted to me

Well maybe it's a simulcast of just the 1st division depts.

Have we figured out a simulcast of the 46.34 frequency yet?

I hear it reasonably well, not too strong in West Babylon. Carrier doesn't seem to drop between transmissions sometimes, I've noticed. Still wondering whats being broadcast on 453.1125 and 453.0875 though!

For a UHF crossband of 46.46, try 453.9875 PL 88.5. I just found this freq today and never tested it. I dont have it in my radio just yet.

As for the 1125 freq, I have often heard transmissions from 46.34 transmitted on this UHF freq. I know that Deer Park had troubles hearing Babylon Central so they put up a feed which is supposedly the 1125 freq in order to be able to hear Central. I have definitely heard transmissions of 46.34 on the 1125 freq. I havent narrowed down if it is just during a call for deer park or not.

Also for 46.34 try 479.825 dpl 466. This is definitely a crossband for 46.34 and has pretty decent reception. This is confirmed as I hear activity on it daily.

Also, a lot of the chiefs in the 1st division and others are carrying pyramids or crossband repeaters in their vehicles for inter-ops between low band and high band. This way they can carry 1 radio and hear everything and communicate fine. They only seem to work when their respective department has a call. I used to hear 46.46 on a uhf freq in west babylon but whenever i traveled outside of west babylon, i never heard it.

Thanks for the info, I will try the 479.825 frequency and see how it works for me. I think the 1125 freq is active for Deer Park calls from my listening, although you do hear others in there as well, but I guess they only activate it when they are on a run?

Thanks Again!

The 479.825 freq works fine here in West Babylon. That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
I will keep an ear on 453.9875 and see if it's a crossband of 46.46.

Thanks again
