What you are hearing is temporary and at some point should resume to the way it was. It could also change and we may see some new tg's show up.
The County of Suffolk was hacked and most of the county systems are still down. In the beginning, county pd units were all switching to another tg (believe the sclerg patch) that was monitored by NYSP personnel since they were not hacked and their pc's were unaffected. They were handling all plate and warrant checks for the county.
NYS Dept of Homeland Security and Emergency Services provided Suffolk "a highly-sophisticated technology that will provide additional firewall protection allowing the department to bring its Computer-Assisted Database back online safely and securely," In addition, NYPD provides 5 of their 911 personal for each of Suffolks tours.
This attack only affected Suffolk County services. All other entities on the trunked system conduct business as usual.
This mess is also affecting the real estate market in Suffolk. "The cyberattack has disabled access to county websites, servers and databases since Sept. 8, making it impossible to verify property titles or file records with the county. That, in turn, has stopped most transactions from going through. "
