On Friday afternoon I received a unit or units running license plate data on talkgroup 112 for sometime, unable to ID department. I know there was a discussion regarding this talkgroup sometime ago, but can't recall what the discussion was. Any thoughts?

TG 112 on the SmartZone system would be equivalent to TG 7 on the ASTRO 25 system, which is Countywide 4.

Further illustrated by the fact that the three listed Countywide talkgroups on the SmartZone system are separated by 32, and so 16, 48, 80...112 is next up.

What you are hearing is temporary and at some point should resume to the way it was. It could also change and we may see some new tg's show up.

The County of Suffolk was hacked and most of the county systems are still down. In the beginning, county pd units were all switching to another tg (believe the sclerg patch) that was monitored by NYSP personnel since they were not hacked and their pc's were unaffected. They were handling all plate and warrant checks for the county.

NYS Dept of Homeland Security and Emergency Services provided Suffolk "a highly-sophisticated technology that will provide additional firewall protection allowing the department to bring its Computer-Assisted Database back online safely and securely," In addition, NYPD provides 5 of their 911 personal for each of Suffolks tours.

This attack only affected Suffolk County services. All other entities on the trunked system conduct business as usual.

This mess is also affecting the real estate market in Suffolk. "The cyberattack has disabled access to county websites, servers and databases since Sept. 8, making it impossible to verify property titles or file records with the county. That, in turn, has stopped most transactions from going through. "

Thanks Dave, somewhere in the back of my mind I recall that when 112 appeared previously it may have had a tie in to the NYSDHSES. This makes sense since it appeared to me that it was SCPD requesting info thru another agency. Remains to be seen what happens.

Years ago tg 112 was listed on the Smartzone system as Statewide Wireless Network (SWN) and was tagged as Fire Tac which never made any sense. In 2020 when covid started, there was a group of unknowns (think it was national guard) using it. In prior snowstorms, Babylon EOC was checking in with Nassau on that tg. All along it was a Countywide that was not used that often.

Well in any event, if the four corresponding talkgroups on the ASTRO 25 system are Countywide 1-4, then 112 on the SZ system is Countywide 4. It's been added to the database.
