My questions i,when i get an email saying someone replied,i get a link and their message.
IE...I got a pm from a friend today and had to logging threw the actual website. Would it be possible in that email,to provide a Mobile friendly link as well?

I am not sure what you are asking about. I understand part of your post, but then it falls into unintelligible verbiage.

When you get an email about a reply to a thread you are subscribed to, you get the text (up to a point) of the first reply to the topic since you were last on the site. When you get an email notification of a PM, it contains the text of the message to you (up to a point).

To either reply again in the topic (or to read further comments that may have been posted) you have to log into the site. To answer the PM, or indeed to do any other action in regard to the PM you have to log in. We, obviously, are not going to allow you to send through the site unless you are logged in, so I am in complete confusion as to what you are seeking.

ETA: Thread is moved to the proper forum.

Lol ok let me try and rephrase it a bit clearer.

When I get an email sayimg a reply has been made, can that email give me a mobile friendly link as well as a "regular" link?

For example...RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Or m.radioreference.com

Not sure what the mobile link actually is. And the sites above are just example. Didn't have the link available

Ah, okay. So what you are looking for is a link that would be something like this:
Suggestion for emal alerts - The RadioReference.com Forums
in the email sent to you.

I played with this just a little bit and noticed that I could not get to the most recent post or even go to a specific post. I am not sure if that is by intention or just the limitation of the mobile version of the software. For example, your last post, addressed in the way it would appear to move to the proper post would be:
Suggestion for emal alerts - The RadioReference.com Forums
but as you can see, if you click on the link, you don't move to the proper post, but rather to the top of the topic.

The mobile version uses an addressing scheme that used to be used here on the forums, but was abandoned a couple of years ago in favor of the one that allows a lot more functionality. I don't have access to the mobile version code so I can't really tell what is/was set up or available. However, I will send your suggestion on to those that should be address it better than I.

mjbjr:

In testing and as Wayne points out, it doesn't seem possible at the present time to be able to emulate the function of the forums link in the email with regards to the mobile version. However, I have submitted an enhancement request for this with Lindsay and we will just have to see what happens down the road. :)

I think vBulletin is a little broken with regards to mobile device support as a whole. Case in point - if someone responds using a mobile device to a thread to which you are subscribed, you get the mobile version of the topic reply notification. ("Go to the forums on your mobile to view it. If you prefer to read this thread on your PC, go to this link: blah blah blah") and of course if they reply using the normal website, you get a topic reply notification formatted for PCs instead.

The real solution would be to have vB read the browser info of a client and switch to the appropriate "site" (mobile or normal) depending on if the browser asking for the page is a mobile client or not.
