you probably won't catch any federal frequencies as they will most likely will be encrypted... you might waht to listen to the stadium security though, maybe your state police as well. if there is any federal stuff for the president you may want to listen to the frequencies just above the weather radio band. also the lower end of the 400mhz range.

When Obama was here in Tucson recently, I was only able to briefly hear mobile to mobile simplex traffic in the clear on a couple of VHF frequencies listed for the FBI. All other federal radio traffic was encrypted.

I was also able to hear traffic between Air Force 1 and ATC on the UHF tower frequencies at Davis Monthan Air Base.

That's it.

However, local and state radio traffic was mostly in the clear.

Federal frequencies will be active reguardless if the President is there or not. From reports of past Super Bowls they have been. Plus no doubt a Combat Air Patrol will be up as well. Good luck.

I am awaiting word from a friend on the UHF Air Frequencies, i would imagine they are gonna be somewhere in the 260mhz area? i am not sure if they gonna be flying out of DFW, I also heard on the local dallas/fort worth news that the homeland security divisions are taking extra measures for physical security because of an amounting terror alert, so i am not sure if that is going to cause an influx of radio traffic on the federal bands?

Any frequency information would be very much appreciated

I would imagine any Combat Patrol aircraft will be flying to and from their base and won't land unless it's an emergency. They will have tanker support. Now however the aircraft performing the flyover will operate from a local field. The Dallas Metroplex has so many airports to choose from but my bet is them using the Alliance Airport. Enjoy. We have to scratch and claw for good Comms in my town. You Texas listeners are being given a gift of great magnitude, something my sorry town would never get. Enjoy.

When Bush 43 visited South Texas while I was there all the coordination in transit was done by the Texas DPS on Texas Law 1, 2, and 3, and the 8Call/8Tac interop channels. I'd call that a good place to start, since they will undoubtedly be in the motorcade if there is one. The black Suburbans had some sweet arrays of antennas on their roofs that were definitely for something else, though.

You might be able to pick up the advance team in the clear. I was able to when the President came to town a few times in the past. Also the coms between AF1 and the ground detail were in the clear until AF1 was wheels down.

On a side note, I dont think the President understands the drain on resources and the pain ticket holders go thru when he attends an event like this. When he came to town for the All Star game, every ticket holder had to go thru a metal detector after standing in line for more than 3 hours. The stadium wouldnt open the gates early that day either to allow for more time to get thru security. Even at the time for the first pitch, a couple thousand folks still hadn't made it in yet. The other frustrating part is that I-70 was shut down from I-270 all the way downtown for about an hour during rush hour.

Tony / David [any other alias' we forgot]

There will be plenty of FEDERAL Activity to listen to for this event.

Yup, some of it encrypted, but alas there has always been ton's in the clear. Additionally, it's not just about being able to DECODE it, but the Confirmation that the Freq is actually in-use.
