• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I’ve used my surface pro with no issues for about a year programming this radio now all of a sudden the computer won’t pick it up as a network adapter it stays as a com port I’ve talked to Motorola and they weren’t much of a help as soon as I told them, I was using a Microsoft product. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled CPS I’ve tried updating the driver, but it doesn’t seem to take it stays on as a on USB serial device. Anyone have any tips that could fix this issue?

Any chance windows did an update recently?
It’s done updates since this started around February and I haven’t found a fix I posted on here before and still have yet to find a solution I did try to backdate the updates to when it was working and I’ve got no luck still

So its not "all of a sudden" its since February. The time to roll back the update was in Feb when you started having issues, cant roll back now.

There is a reason Radio Shops use laptops and desktops with true ports and not emulators.

But there was a reason Motorola did not help for a reason Tablet was Unsupported. Just call Motorola and ask about Emulating and running on an Apple.
What the heck are you rambling on about? The Microsoft Surface Pro runs WINDOWS, not some crackpot OS. And I have no idea what you're on about "true ports" and "emulators", the APX programming cables are and have always been native USB.

You have to use a usb c to usb a adapter for the surface pro. But all the replies so far are useless because as I stated everything worked before so it’s not a tablet problem…. Just can’t figure out why I cant get it as a network adapter now

That is why my State Administrator uses a Panasonic Tough Book I do not see you helping.
My beloved Toughbook. When I first started playing with radios, I used an Intel-based Mac running Parallels, and it ran great. Had to use a dongle, and it eventually became a pain having to reboot every time. Also, issues with the USB-C adapter. Finally shelled out $200 for a CF-33 and haven't looked back.

Try to program the radio. Then look for the errors in the event viewer.
