Anyone know if any departments that have upgraded their radio systems recently are selling any of their gear? The reason I ask is that I know some HAMs have had luck in the past with picking up older gear from cities that have upgraded and reprogramming them for ham freqs. Would be a great opportunity to get some cheap, quality gear for ham use. Any ideas?

They would do only FM.

Why bother.

Because 90% of 2 meter and 70cm activity is FM?
Haha, exactly!

I was just wondering if there are any departments in AL that are/have upgraded radios and if they are getting rid of their radios. I know a lot of them use "govdeals.com" to sell surplus gear, but that means the prices are usually a lot higher.
