Ok if I mointor a primary control channel and two talkgroup ids start talking on that tower for example at the same time, how does the scanner know which one to let me listen to? Or can I tell it which one I perfer to listen too.
There is no such thing as "at the same time" in the digital world of trunking control channels for this example. While it seems two channels may become active at or about the same time, the control channel data tells the radios which channel to go to. So one of those is indeed the first active channel on the radio system, in some cases only fractions of a second ahead of the other channel, but not at the same time.
Ok i will rephrase, what if people on two different talk groups on that same tower have people talking at the same time. Barry county MDOT and Barry county sheriif go thru the Nashville tower so if they are talking at the same time, how does the Pro-97 choose which one I will hear?

What we're saying is that if Barry MDOT and Barry SO transmit at EXACTLY the same time, the MPSCS controller system will automatically grant one of them a channel first (probably SO) and that will be transmitted on the control stream and your Pro97 will tune to it. Trunking is not the same as conventional when it comes to transmissions.
That is what I didn't get is the control stream then. I see the different freq when talkgroups are talking and I see it change everytime, but just never knew how the factor comes in as what has primority over others.
