Hello i have just bought a 996XT had it programend and i am having issues picking tazwell county trunking systems. I have a control tower repeater 3 miles from my house. The problem i am haveing is that itt picks up no transmistions in scan mode. But if i put the scanner on hold on the control channel i pich up transmistions loud and clear. So some how my talk groups are not picking up siganal or something. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Jeramy

If your talking about the Tazewell County EDACS system with TCSO, Pekin PD & FD, then you likely don't have the system programmed correctly. Enter it in as an EDACS-Wide trunk system I do believe. Then program in the Creve Coeur frequencies in exact order that they appear in the RR database.

Also you say that nothing is picked up in scan mode, but hears it when you hold on a frequency. Did you enter in any of the Talkgroup ID's for it to scan?

I have checked to make sure its in wide and it is. I am compleatly stumped on this.I think it has something to do with the way it was programend from scannermaster. Not saying it is there fault just think that the talk groups are not in order. But i am not sure cause this is my first scanner i have been reading allot and consider myself to buy a quick learner.

So i am using the mackinaw CC with the lcn set at 1. I belave the talk groups or something is not in the rite order. Thanks Jeramy

The Mackinaw site won't work unless you set the system up as EDACS SCAT. I can't remember if it decodes talkgroups on that site but at least you can monitor it and not hear the buzzing.

The other sites, you set up as EDACS WIDE.

OK i figured it out. I am sorry but for some reason my posts take for ever to show up. I havent figured out how to put in the groups though there in there but dont come up.

The scanner isn't going to decode talkgroups on the Mackinaw site like it does other sites. But, I don't think you'll get much traffic on that site other than on the sheriff's dept talkgroup.

Also make sure that your System is set to Search, not Scan. If it is set to Scan then you will only hear those talkgroups that happen to be in your scanlist, if it is in Search then you will hear all traffic on the tower and you can then lockout the ones you don't want.
