I've been really curious if anyone was using the DV1 for this. It's too bad the DV10 seems to have a bunch of rough issues or I'd love to get one and use it for TETRA as well.

AOR/Yaesu gave up on them. They are not even listed as supported on their website.

DV1 works great. I had to buy the unlock key from AOR Japan. It cost me $122. So far it works good when I was in Toronto. I live in Hamilton and I need to get a good antenna to hear the TTC good. I'll make a short video soon.

Now if only there was a portable handheld to monitor TETRA that doesn't end up costing +$900 plus.
I apologize if I am asking a question that has already been asked in this thread. I don't know anything about TETRA and I want to get back into my radio hobby more with the recent lockdown.

I am wondering if I was to order a Motorola TETRA radio on eBay for example, can that portable be programmed to monitor the TTC TETRA system?
I am looking for a similar setup to the typical OPP/EMS or Fire radios would be programmed.
Feel free to DM me.

All TETRA radios are required to first send a request to the TETRA system using it's serial number and ID to be cross checked with the systems database, that then sends an acknowledge back to the radio.

Currently, no hack or mod for a radio exists to my knowledge that are public to use to just receive without first affiliate/log in to a TETRA system.

Ok, Interesting how TETRA works - so fair to say short answer is a non-affiliate scan does not exists for TETRA. - Thanks
Other then an SDR can anyone recommend a scanner model that can decode TETRA?

Only two that I know of on the market, AOR DV-1 and AOR DV-10. Neither of these are cheap, and support for them with TETRA has been shady at best.

Too bad the Uniden SDS100 doesn't have the functionality, it's quite advanced... As much as it costs, I'd buy it if it had TETRA trunking.

I think its just a matter of time before someone offers TETRA. Once that happens all the others will jump on the band wagon. Europe is a huge TETRA user. The only down side is that many systems are encrypted for all users. That may not stop offering the option though its a buyer be informed issue.

If it is an available memory issue as some tech guys have been discussing. I would be happy to buy a separate dedicated 436/536 or whatever just to support the mode even if it means not having p25.

Maybe it's just not easy to run unless there's a dedicated hardware decoder in a scanner. I know running the software decoders on a PC isn't exactly light on resources.

Both Uniden and Whistler have dedicated hardware chips. Their DSP processors that do the actual decode work and the main CPU then pick out the data for TG's and similar info to do further processing.
