Folks I am in the Tyler area and I just don’t hear much radio traffic. I understand they use both TXWARN AND VHF HIGH but they must use their car computers greatly!
ALSO CAR TO CAR FREQUENCIES OR ID INFORMATION??? Please help!!!!
Thanks all………

That seems to be the case.

Car to car frequencies might be 155.445, 155.46, 159.21 all with NAC 162. Maybe also the other base/repeater output frequencies with NAC 162.
In areas where they used local or regional trunked systems they may have car to car talkgroups that aren't in the database.

I hear more on the TGs of the Ft Worth and Parker Co trunked systems than I do on the listed DPS freq...they are using the MDT extensively and cutting down on radio comms!
You can load all the VHF P25 freq from the DB here and see what pops up!
I actually heard a brief dispatch on the listed Aledo VHF freq just the other day for the first time in a couple of years!

I am in Gregg County and DPS primarily operates on Gregg County Sheriff Primary. I do hear troopers talking to Tyler Base when at wreck scenes, running id or vehicle checks. Or during pursuits on I-20. And I hear Tyler occasionally broadcast BOLOs.
Back on Mother's Day one of those BOLOs triggered a pursuit on and off I-20 and down into Panola Co. where the suspects were arrested. Crazy, crazy chase. One of my coworkers narrowly missed being hit by a police Tahoe.

It’s not that troopers NEVER use the VHF freq it’s that it is much less often than in the past! If there is a good large trunking system in the area that seems to be the preference! I have heard the VHF used a lot more west of DFW...
The Wiki has a very good explanation of unit numbering...

The DPS units I hear id with a number/letter/three digit call sign.
Example "1B605" or '1Bravo605"
I think there is a thread that has the full details.

Funny...all this recent chatter about TX DPS and just the last 2 days I have heard more activity on the Aledo and Mineral Wells repeaters than the PCSO TG!

I hear Hunt County troopers talking to Dallas DPS on a regular basis.
A lot of traffic is I-30 related.
