I've never heard of Lone Star Law, if it's an older show maybe it's a rerun of a previous older episode from years prior?

I know local to me they use APX mobiles and handhelds and operate VHF P25 at least when communicating on the repeater to the DPS dispatcher. They also have the county stuff programmed in so it could vary depending on location and what radio capabilities they need. If it's a warden that operates in west Texas where I'd venture to guess they're probably mostly still using conventional analog, that radio may be just fine if he never operates or goes near anywhere that has anything other than that.

Interesting none the less.

It's not a state radio, and as ND5Y stated, it's more than likely a county radio. Sometimes counties will loan out radios for their systems. This was probably before we got the APX radios. Back then we had some pretty crappy TK-5710's that were way past their service life.
