Texas VHF Skip

Its not uncommon for me to hear DPS Waco, Tyler, Mineral Wells or even Texarkana. and on occasion I can even get Wichita Falls and Austin, I even heard DPS Houston once a few years back.

I was just blown away hearing both DPS San Antonia 159.2100 NAC 107 Very Clear and DPS Corpus Christi Not so very clear. San Antonia is about a 6 hour drive for me and Corpus a solid 8 hours. My QTH is in SE Fannin Co. Texas just hop away from Delta Co. & Lamar Co.

KKC74? Corpus Christie on 155.3700 at one bar on the 197 just came is scratchy but very readable.

San Antonia DPS 159.2100 NAC: 107 was at 4 bars on the 197.

way down here in deeeep S. Tx I'v reciverd signals as far as dallas..pd. fd. houston.pd fd-san antonio houston corpus.and all else inbetween DPS..stations...and under low vhf the eastern side of the US. mostly the state of new Jersey...

Back when 37.10 was in use almost everywhere I frequently heard skip from Texas in my patrol car in NW Iowa. LOUD skip from Texas!
