• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I could not find the answer. I am wondering if there is a way to select a specific talk group to hold on. For example, Zone 1/Knob 1 is programmed with all TGIDs for a specific agency. A TGID voice message is received and I press hold to lock onto that talk group. Now, I want to switch to a different TGID in the same zone/knob, but I don't see the ability to. The way I have gotten around this for now, is to program individual TGIDs into their own knob. Is there a way to then scan each knob? P25 system.

AFAIK there is not - you have to wait until there is activity on the TG and then pounce on the Hold button. Not ideal.

You can't scan trunking knob positions, but you could have one setup for all talkgroups and others setup for individual talkgroups...

That’s what I figured. Thanks for confirming.

You'll need to wait until there's activity on that TG, and then hold on it. You can't scroll through them like on a scanner.

I wish they would add a Talkgroup hold option where you could set a timer where the TG holds for 2 or 3 seconds before it scans again

There is Tab d8 talk group hold timeout set it for a time you desire and the pager scans again
Can only be set in one-minute increments. Also check TGID Hold Timeout in tab 7 Device Function Setting to allow in-pager configuration via Main Menu, Function Settings. You'll want the ability to change this on the fly should there be significant activity on the channel being held (think police chase or working structure fire).

a minute would be too long I wouldn't want it set for longer than 5 seconds. Maybe they will come up with a fix in the future.
