Recent events on our scanners in Vegas have been rebroadcasted. “Action”. Encryption will be enabled soon. “Reaction”. Thanks to whoever ruined it for all. Hope you got a lot of worthless “Likes”.

There was a huge, very kinetic & volatile SWAT barricaded gunman standoff in Henderson a few weeks ago -- heavily armed, drugged, deranged but highly-motivated subject wanted suicide by cop instead of being arrested for drugging, kidnapping & molesting a child. Had body-armor, gas mask, etc. The only thing that could have made it worse was if he'd had a hostage & actively been firing his .300 Blackout rifle...

Anyway, some brilliant person decided to live-stream the HPD SWAT channel, & HPD found out about it Saturday evening. Too dynamic of a situation to switch channels at the time, but after having LVMPD SWAT relieve them so they could get some sleep, when HPD SWAT briefed before taking control of the scene back from the LVMPD Zebras on Sunday morning, they switched to an encrypted channel.

There was a feed up in my area several years ago back when the local public safety was on the EDACS system. Something similar occurred: some sort of hostage situation. All the while, the live feed on RR (before Broadcastify) was being streamed on one of the TAC channels. Not sure if the police ever found out, but they ended up going TE a couple years ago and the heavy use of live streams in the area was one of those reasons they went the big E route...

At the end of the day, it is feed providers responsibility to ensure TAC channels and investigative/sensitive channels that are in the clear, are not being broadcasted.
