So, I have been collecting Bendix King commercial radios for the past 10 years. I had not known the level of my collection/addiction until I decided to sell most of them.

After the past few months on Ebay, I found MORE radios to sell.

So here is the last of the batch, Most of the portables will be sold. All of the mobiles. And after I found these, I found almost a dozen MORE mobiles in our barn that I had forgotten about.

As a side note, my shack is looking cleaner than ever. Now of only the auctions will end!!! I wish I had taken more pics sooner as I have already sold 50 other handhelds and several more mobiles.

And for those wondering, BK radios are field programmable. I was able to use them for my firefighting career as well as ham radio. And I could change them on the fly.

Thanks, I need a good laugh. Now, I feel much better knowing there are others with a passion for communication.

Somewhere in this house, I have a "touch pad" deceased Regency MX-7000. Your gray colored transceiver looks just like this unit.

LOL, I guess you could call it that. I have so many darned radios. All of my vehicles (including 4 wheelers) look like porcupines. And the house has an aluminum monster hangin over it.

Yes, the Regency is almost identical to the Relm RH256N that I have there. It is actually field programmable believe it or not. Good radio, BUT I NEED THE ROOM!!! :)

I share your pain. You don't want to look in my basement, I have over 200 MX portables to start. 100 Micors and Mocom 70 mobiles (I bought from Con-Ed when they went 800) 20 or so Syntor X and 9000 mobiles of various bands. Most of the other brands of radios went to the junk yard with cars as I got rid of them. In the garage I am down to about 6 outdoor base station cabinets from over 15 with various 250watt stations of Motrac to Micor vintage, I could go on and on. I am sure going to make the junk man happy as I get rid of them all.

Several Regency scanners used the same housing......My M100 and M400 use it, as well as a Wilson UHF 2-way radio.

If I remember correctly, Regency made a mobile transceiver that looked very similar, but of course, had the Regency name on it. I remember a marine band model that seemed ubiquitous in boats.

Bk!

I loved those BK radios, back in the day. My police dept had nasty Midland portable radios so I bought a Bendix/King radio and programmed it up with my trusty programming/car key, and never looked back.

Once upon a time I had one of those Regency Programmable radios too.

Thanks for the blast to the past!

LOL, exactly!! They certainly haven't changed their external design. I have a few of them that are quite new (though IN THE SAME CASE). THey are APCO 25 capable , metal cased, and have some other cool features (like encryption).

In a pinch I used a paper clip or when in uniform the tip of knife from my Leatherman. I carried the real programming switch, plus a cloning cable, in the glove compartment of my USFS pickup. When I arrived at large incidents I would just find the comm plan and quickly program my radio, then clone the rest of the radios for my crew. This worked especially well when arriving on a incident and being given an immediate assignment.

I wore a King on my belt as soon as the Forest Service first started buying them. When I retired I missed them so much I bought one. It was modified to lower its frequency range down to 144 MHz so I could work ham frequencies as well. I carried it whenever I was out on dirt roads, cross country skiing, and backpacking. I could use it under limited circumstances in emergencies as a licensed amateur radio operator. For the latter I take trips away from my local area and could program the radio for whatever jurisdiction I was in.

I came very close to using it in the backcountry of Yosemite NP during a very heavy hail/rain storm. I was helping two people who came unprepared and didn't have warm clothing or rain gear. Both were hypothermic and flash flooding blocked the trail back to the trailhead. I came close to calling for help getting the folks across the raging flow of a creek. The woman had advanced to the stage where she was just beginning to stop shivering (on the wrong side - not the recovery side) and warming her was not possible under the circumstances. The situation was critical as she was delirious and wanted to lay down. Some other hikers arrived and we pooled our resources and got everyone to the other side. The rain stopped and the sun came out. I forced her to keep walking and thankfully she warmed up after hiking a mile. The Park Service was so busy with front country flooding situations that their help may not have made the difference for this woman.

The King isn't used very often now, because a non-ham friend gave me a Kenwood capable of working 144-174 MHz. It is much lighter, smaller and is capable of working narrowband as well. The new digital BKs are far too expensive for me and hopefully not too many agencies in the boonies start using digital. If they do I hope the price of surplus digital BKs drops enough that I can afford one. If that happens I will be back to carrying a brick again.

I just sold hundreds of those BK handhelds and those BK mobiles, the one to the far left of your picture, forget the model number. I bought two pallets of radios, kept the Motorola stuff to sell off slowly and dumped all the BK stuff to eBay. Darn near gave myself a hernia packing and shipping all those individual boxes as they sold.

Do you have any of the micor's or mocom 70's left that you might want to part with and if so, what frequency are they on. I myself, love some of the vintage equipment and loved the pure white micor's and the mocom 70's were just a nice pure basic radio.
