I was thinking about buying the BCD996P2 scanner to replace my TRX-2. I love my TRX-2 since we don't have simulcast issues with it.
I do need DMR and NXDN for the surrounding counties here in Tompkinsville, Ky. My TRX-2 ( Like my TRX-1) has front end problems when I use my 2 meter/
440 rigs. It lost sensitivity here lately. I can't receive the next county uhf anymore and the uhf here in town barely can receive it. it receives the uhf with one bar where it use to be full scale. My other TRX-1 has it full scale and I can pick up the surrounding areas on it. My question is does the 996 have a better front in where my dual band radio won't kill it. You would think with the scanner antenna and my dual band antenna are space a bit apart that wouldn't happen. My old TRX-1 in the wife's car done the same thing. But the antennas are closer since its in a car.

It's a great scanner! I owned the 996XT (still do) and love them both!

I would keep the antennas as far apart as possible.

If you buy the upgrades directly from Uniden, you'll save a few bucks too.

Just set up an account here:

Good luck!

If you get a receiver too close to a transmitted signal, it will eventually be degraded. Depending on power out and proximity, it isn't necessarily the TRX1 that is at fault. I use my upgraded PSR800 in the same room as my dual band transmitter without any problem. If both antennas on the car are on the trunk or roof, that is too close unless you transmit at low power and turn off the scanner.
