I realize that the rating system (1 to 5 stars) is not heavily used, so this is probably just an academic exercise, but here is a suggestion. Once a user has voted, s/he is not allowed to change the rating. Logically, a thread can be "upgraded" by one or more useful posts. I rated a thread "terrible" (one star), because I was getting no useful input to it (and to draw attention to it). Then, later, a poster added some very useful information, so I tried to upgrade it by re-voting. Not allowed. Since nobody else is likely to ever "vote" on it, it will remain a "terrible" thread forever.

Therefore, I suggest that a voter's rating should be changeable, if that is an option in vBulletin.

Yes, there is a vB option to allow vote changing: "Allow Thread Rating Vote Changes" under "Poll and Thread Rating Options".

Personally I think thread ratings are a waste of time and server resources. Most of the time it's only used for negative purposes. Some clown in the NY section apparently gets his rocks off on rating every thread "Terrible".

I'd like to see the thread rating feature turned off, or at the very least bump the "Required Thread Rating Votes to Show Rating" option up to 3 or 5 so you don't wind up with a single person being able to trash a bunch of threads out of spite or boredom or whatever.

No prob.

Can you bump the "Required Thread Rating Votes to Show Rating" value up to at least 2 or 3? It's really annoying seeing all the 'terrible' ratings because of a single person voting that way. If 2 or 3 or more people vote a thread 'terrible' that's one thing, then let the rating show. But no single vote should determine the rating of any thread, good or bad, especially since it's obvious there's at least one person going around rating threads as terrible (take a look in the NY section and you'll see how many there are).
