I have the new PRO-97, I also have downloaded Win97 V01.2 and when I go to download or upload - it seems that my PC can't find the scanner/port. I set my serial configuration for COM port 3 because it would say that it couldn't find COM port 1, 2, 4 etc. I'm using my laptop which doesn't have the RadioShack's scanner-to-PC adapter type, so I connected it to my serial adapter USB 1.1 converter which has always worked just fine for everything else like on my SporTrak Pro GPS unit and such. So I know my USB port is good, my serial adapter converter cable is good, the scanner is on and works - so what the heck am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

It's likely you are using V01.12 - I haven't seen V01.2 yet.

What cable are you using between the PRO-97 and your "serial adapter USB 1.1 converter"?

Have you read the Win97 Help file - Contents>Getting Started>Connecting the Scanner? - it mentions your error message and possible remedies.

Look in Device Manager when you have the scanner connected and actually see which port the adapter driver has installed as. (It'll install as a different COM port if you change the USB port it's plugged into.) That'll eliminate one possible problem - at least you'll have the right port number to plug into the software. Another common problem is that you're using the wrong cable - check on Don's site (http://www.starrsoft.com) for cable information.
