• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

TK-5710 convert from KCH-16 to 14/15 without HHCH? Cannot read radio, display all LCD seg's on.

I have 3, TK-5710's that came with no head, but have a KRT-11 remote interface on the radio, but no controller. I have tried both kch-14/15's but cannot read radio. All seg's are on, and I think the radios are looking for a control head I do not have. Is there a way to "factory reset" or work around to change the type of head the software/ firmware is looking for? I have connected both kch-14/15 heads directly to the radio and no success. The heads work on other radios. Thanks!

Can you mount the 14/15 head to the drawer and write a blank code plug into the radio with the correct head?

I understand you can’t read. But did you try writing without reading? Many KW radios allow for this to overwrite existing code plugs.

Yes, I tried to force a codeplug, but no response. I am going to try a firmware force as well. In the past, this was how you could get into password protected gear, just over-write it. But, for the sake of accuracy, I will try again. Thanks!

UPDATE! I tried a head from a TK5710 that won't power up, and this head "Which looks like a KCH14 but the circuit board is different" allowed the radio to come up and I could read it. It shows "as I suspected" a KC-16 as the control head it is programmed with, but I see no option to change it. Thoughts? Thanks all.

I don’t have the software and a computer in front of me. But one of the drop down menus on the top has the option for model. You can select control head in there I believe.
