• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

We recently just took over another depts engine on trade the front radio is a spectra Motorola. And the back is a mcs 2000.

I would like to replace both with a kenwood tk 7360. But I never worked with radios and headsets before. Can anyone give me advice on how to program the radio for the headsets to work with these kenwoods.

The fire com model is 210 R
The plug in ports are PP 20

Thanks.

The 7360 is not the best choice when connecting external audio devices like headsets. The 15 pin accessory connector lacks the correct audio. It can be done with effort though.

For transmit audio and PTT you would need to invent a "Y" cable off of the mic jack and hook up there or bring the Firecom wires into the radio and tap into appropriate spots on the board.

For receive you'll need an external speaker plugged into the radio so you can tap across the wires. If you want to use the internal speaker, again you will have to snake the Firecom wires inside and connect there.

I wouldn't be doing this without a service manual. Also the Firecom will be paralleling the palm mic and if used will be hot during transmit adding background noises to the transmission. There is no mod to the KMC-35 mic to eliminate this.

Thanks for the reply. I see kenwood has a MR48x radio interface assembly cable through the mic port.

But going through the mic port wouldn't that eliminate the palm mic?

If you truly do have a firecom interface, contact them at firecom.com. They are in the Portland, Or. area and are real good with working with everyone. I have used them several times over the years with very good luck.

Also, as far as the Kenwood interface, or any other interface that use's the normal mic jack, yes you lose the normal mic at that point, but depending on how the interface is built, you may still be able to use the normal mic.
