Tram 1411 Top Whip

Good evening. Does anyone own a 1411 and can tell me if the top whip is a permanent part of the antenna or can it be detached?

I don't like to assume, but it doesn't seem logical to have the top whip as a permanent attachment.

I have one and You can take a allen wrench that comes with it and take it off. It is not on there permanently.
