Hello. Hope this is ok to post here. I am just wondering if it’s ok to update to 2.0 and start using it or if there is still bugs or issues with it and stick with the previous version until the bugs/issues are fixed. Thanks

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Ok, so there is still lots of issues or bugs with it still. And my best bet is to wait until they get a fix for it sometime. If they do get one for it. Before I go ahead and install it.
+1 on avoiding if possible. I have found issues with Hex values and just the general navigation of the software. There does not appear to be an "expert view" at all. Currently on the second iteration of CPS2.0. However, new XPR7550e handhelds require CPS2.0 to program, while earlier firmware version could use CPS2.0 or CPS16, at least build 827. Stick with CPS16 if you do not need it for your radio. I was able to test an older XPR6550, and could use both CPS16, then CPS2.0, and then go back to using CPS16, but the file icon defaults to CPS2.0 after using it once.

I am not eager. I went to fix up a radio yesterday and I couldn’t do it because it was done with 2.0. So was seeing if there was any fixes to it yet, so incase I come across other radios that were done with 2.0, because I know more radios will be done using 2.0 now.
So ok looks like then I will stay with CPS16, unless I decide to get another computer to put 2.0 on or until they get a fix for it, since there is still issues with it and don’t want to get screwed and have something happen and not be able to go back to CPS16.

CPS 2 is more of a technical abortion than CPS 16. Others have covered the reasons to avoid well. Heed the warnings.

Ok I understand now. I will take the warnings and avoid for now until I hear that there has been a fix and it is good to use. So will stick with CPS 16.0 and continue using it. Thanks
If its 2.0 radios that you're programming, you aren't going to have a choice. You can't program a radio that is has been programmed in 2.0 with 16.0
That said, you can run both simultaneously so you can cover both types of radios. As others have mentioned, if the radio hasn't been upgraded yet, don't. Really no benefit, but SO much to lose.
