Trip to Mississauga

Hello. I will be going to Mississauga sometime soon and will be taking Highway 69 then onto 400 then 401 then onto Mississauga.

So other than FleetNet, which I already have set up in my scanner,I am just wondering what else there is to listen to on the way to Mississauga? Like FD's, Construction, and anything else worthwhile I can enter in to listen to for the main places along the way and in Mississauga while I am there.

Just trying to get my scanner set up and ready for when I go there.

So if anyone on here can help me out and let me know.

Tons of fire to hear. Muskoka and Simcoe have a large selection of fire listings for the drive down the 400 and are even better if you have a DMR upgrade on your scanners. Once you're within the GTA you can get Toronto and Peel fire which are quite busy systems, and Halton. All 3 can be captured from a fair distance, often, once in the area.

Okay, would you happen to know some of the FD's to listen to that might not be listed on here or are most on here?

Yah, I have a BCD996P2 scanner with the DMR on it. So all good there.

Okay, so from Mississauga I can hear stuff from Toronto no problem, or just certain things? Just seeing if I can, or if I should enter some things from Toronto as well.

And would I pick up the FleetNet tower from Toronto in Mississauga or no?

And anything else other than Fire worth listening to along the way I can enter into my scanner.

The database for those regions is very well updated, from what I see.

From Mississauga you'll likely be able to pick up Toronto's south and west sites for Fire/EMS - but depends on antenna, where you are in Mississauga, etc. Worth a try.

You'll likely find the Britannia site will be the best in Mississauga. The Mowat (Toronto) site often gets a big mix of things at times, so if you can pick it up you'll get a big mix of GTA EMS (Halton, Peel, York, Simcoe, Oshawa, Hamilton talkgroups).

Okay thanks. I will enter those sites in and see what I get.

So by the sounds of it, I should be able to pick up some or quite a few things from Toronto while I am in Mississauga and depending on my antenna.

By the way, there are tons of spots to watch planes and listen to air traffic at Pearson Airport. Something that can be fun to listen to and go check out, if you've got some time to burn and want to get out a little.
