I was receiving Troop B just fine with my 800 ducky and then sometime last week I noticed the system got weaker and now some of the transmittions are broken up and a lot weaker than before. Anyone know why this is?

I thought it was just me. Once and a while I would notice that 1 or 2 of the channels were running on reduced power, but like you said its been bad across the board recently.

Do you know which site you are getting the signal from? I get mine from Montana Mountain in Warren County.

Unfortunately I don't know which site I am getting the signal from. I live in Bergen County. Glad to know that its not just me.

What are you hearing or not hearing. It is common to hear clearly and have the audio drop out. My guess is that when the user was transmitting he/she was in a "good spot" and then while driving, moved to a "bad spot". Or like celluar signals the transmision was handed to another tower?

I am a mile or less from the transmitter at Netcong station, and I have "drop outs" from time to time. The system has been around since the 80's, upgraded or not, i don't think the whole system has been upgraded.

Don't forget, this is NJ, we do things 2-3 or 4 times before we get it right, and that costs $$$.

a source has told me they are having some issues on some of the sites and are working on getting it fixed. no ETA as to if/when it will be fixed. he was unable to give me an exact problem or cause but can confirm issues we are all seeing. I use an Disconne on one of my scanners and its very weak and a Scantenna on another and its also week as well as on my portables.

Yes back when it was normal I had the occasional audio drop but now it is clearly reduced power on all the transmitions. Hope they fix this..

I am sure they have "issues" all the time. I doubt the system has ever worked perfectly at any one time. You're "source" hasn't given any new information.

How do you know the output power has been reduced?

I am near the tower, and if I start hearing static and such, I don't assume the power has been reduced. My 1st inclination is to check my equipment.

I have noticed that in the last few weeks, the control channel has been bouncing back and forth between 860.9625 & 859. Prior to all this, the control channel would stay on 860 and would almost never move unless the radio techs were doing something.

1 more thing...sometimes sharing too much information = no more information in the future. We should all be thankful that we have some sort of an answer.

I didn't intend to be mean or otherwise. I was merely pointing out that telling the group you have "new" information when either you really don't or can't share it, then what is the point of posting such?

Even I could have said that the NJSP has been having issues with the system with a 50% chance of being right or wrong. Probably the former. Making a comment is one thing, but stating you have new info, but can't share is another.

Actually, this was your contribution and it sure looks like something that we all knew, so i'm confused as to what your point was as I quoted above?
