Has anyone else that monitors the Troop C system noticed that the Southstar talkgroup doesn't seem to be coming up, yet I can hear Northstar almost all the time. It used to be quite the opposite. Anyone know whats going on with Southstar?

Didn't NJSP upgrade it's system to Smartzone last year? If so I believe if there is not a radio for the TG you want to monitor affiliated with your system / site you won't hear the comms.

That's what I thought anyway.

Yea I think they did. But even when Southstar is in Troop C territory I'm still not hearing them, unless they are still using Troop A from being up in the air and capable of hitting the distant repeaters but they usually tell dispatch when they are safe on the ground, in which case they would not have height in their advantage. I'm also not sure why a radio affiliated to the Northstar talkgroup would be one Troop C pretty much constantly, all of a sudden. The best way I can sum it up is saying it seemed that the TG's flip flopped, like the radio on troop c that had s* tg on decided to change to the n* tg.

I heard SouthStar on the Troop C System at 10:10 this morning; transporting a 74 year old female and giving her vitals, etc., and ETA to the hospital.

I picked up NorthStar asking for LZ coordiates last night for a bad accident in Freehold. Two kids on skateboards were struck by a van. One died last night and the other one died today.

I can pick up north star (26832) and south star (26800) wherever they are in the state on the same I.D. from South Jersey. Just thought they were patched together with all the troops.

You might also be able to hear southstar communicating with the landing zone at 154.265. This is South Jersey Net which every county from Cape May to Burlington county uses, and maybe even Mercer and Ocean Counties.

I hear them all the time on the Fire Net. BTW, if I'm not mistaken, the radios in the choppers have the capability to use any frequency if necessary to coordinate a landing zone. I think I remember someone telling me this or reading it somewhere. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.
