trouble trunking certain agencies

I have programmed my pro 96 with trunking frequency channels from faulkner county, Arkansas and is working fine except for local police agency(conway, arkansas) which transmissions come thru all sounding scrambled. I just purchased this scanner because the salesman said it would pick up the local dept fine. I know I was unable to pick up the local conway pd on my old scanner. Does anyone know if there is away to program the pro 96 to scan this dept or is there radio system encrypted?

According to the database they are not encrypted. How do you have the bank setup for that trunking system?

i have tried several setups in diff banks, in one I have the 7 freq channels loaded, in another i tried to download the freq and talkgroup IDs.

You do have it all setup as an APCO system, correct?

I have been informed in another forum that conway pd has encoded radio activity, so being new to this does this mean no scnner will pick them up.

Not quite. Your 96 is picking them up when you hear the offending noise. However, no scanner can decode the signal and make it inteligible.

Does your display show M36 or M96? if it's M36 then you want it set to just Motorola Type II NOT P25. P25 is only used on 9600 baud systems.
