Nubie question: Can you break up Trunk systems into favorites so if you don't want to listen to one or the other you can turn off monitor?

Ultimately it's your call how you want to organize your favorites lists but why create separate FLs when you can assign system quick keys and enable/disable those you don't want to hear that way while keeping the FL active? See system quick keys description here

If it's a bunch of stuff on the same trunked system, you can assign department quick keys. Keeping talkgroups in the same system and not spreading them across a few FL's keeps scanning speeds at their fastest.

Yes you can, but everything I've read says you shouldn't, particularly if you would ever have the two lists active at the same time. You'd have to have the sames sites repeated (because they are shared by all talk groups in a geographic area) so you'd be scanning same frequencies more than once per pass. I'm not exactly sure what else happens if two different FLs are active together. Maybe other other undesirable impacts.

I want to learn how to use these but haven't gone there yet. Stupid question.....how do you remember which QKs for everything? Need more time to learn about this! Great suggestion though!! Would like to find a video of setting up and utilizing... Lots to learn

I'm actually doing this but keeping it all together would be more manageable once I learn quick keys. Is that the best way to lock out things within the whole trunk that I don't want to listen to (using QKs)? Does permanent avoid stay on even after turning off or downloading from the Scanner and uploading?
