Sorry yes I meant the pro 668 and the Antenna is broken completely off I was just wanting to buy a new scanner.trying to find out what ones are the best to buyIn his posting history from three years ago, there are numerous questions about the Pro-668. Could they possibly mean this one or has something changed since then?
If it is truly for a 668, maybe try this: Whistler 4" Rubber Antenna or others listed in the link.
I’m sorry I am a little new to this . I am just trying to find out what scanners are the best to buyYou post this in the Whistler forum saying you have a Radio Shack scanner model 996 (which would be Uniden). I’m a little confused.
YesDo you mean that the antenna connector is completely broken off of the scanner?
Plenty of people here to help you to pick out a new scanner but you need to answer some specific questions in total, where exactly is your hometown, county in Ohio and what are you specifically looking to listen to the most? What are your priorities? Plenty of good people here to help you.
Sorry I didn't see your post🙂Where specifically in Ohio? I'd prefer to consult the RRDB so an informed recommendation can be made for you

Thank you so muchLooks like your agencies of interest operate on Ohio MARCS so for that you'll need a P25 Phase-I scanner (Phase-II scanners will also work but are more costly)

Portsmouth and New Boston police and fire are indeed on the MARCS Phase 1 System.
There is much debate on what radio works best throughout the system and often the SDS series from Uniden or the unication pager is mentioned as working the best but that doesn't necessarily mean that you have to get those radios.
If I could make a suggestion. Simply Google radio reference Ohio State forum and you will find lots and lots of information on this system including threads that will talk about the best scanners to use.
Do your research, read everything you can on that state forum but don't start a new thread asking about the best scanner to use. It's better if you post questions on an existing thread regarding the system and the scanners that people use.
Good luck to you.. Bob.
