Hi everyone

It seems there is an error in all european bandplans (I activated FRA) since I am not able to program specific frequencies.

Concerning PMR446 - Wikipedia Digital FDMA (more or less NXDN) channels: I cannot enter them, they get automatically corrected (wrongly).
E.g. the range starting at 446.003125, 446.009375 -> 446.196875 in 6.25kHz steps: Not possible.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

In fact: Whistler should prepare all european bandplans allowing 446.0 - 446.2MHz with 3.125kHz steps to correct this.

Hi. For most scanners, including the TRX1, the selectivity isn't good enough to make a difference to add 3.125khs steps. For the TRX1 will be something like 6-10Khz (I'm sure someone will know exactly), so if you program a frequency close to the 3.125khz step channel it will still receive it. The downside is that it wont be able to select out an adjoining 3.125khz channel and it will also be received. The Icom R30 is oen of few receivers that does do 3.125khz 'properly'.

Thank you for your answer!

As a reference, I can point you to the bandplans and regulations of Switzerland (Our neighbor). They have an excellent documentation provided by OFCOM:

Technical interfaces regulations (ofcomnet.ch) (for PMR446, EU-wide standard)

There, all needed frequencies are listed:

Carrier frequencies [MHz] for 6.25 kHz channeling:
446.003125; 446.009375; 446.015625; 446.021875; 446.028125; 446.034375; 446.040625; 446.046875; 446.053125; 446.059375; 446.065625; 446.071875; 446.078125; 446.084375: 446.090625; 446.096875; 446.103125; 446.109375; 446.115625; 446.121875; 446.128125; 446.134375; 446.140625; 446.146875; 446.153125; 446.159375; 446.165625; 446.171875; 446.178125; 446.184375; 446.190625; 446.196875.
Carrier frequencies [MHz] for 12.5 kHz channeling:
446.00625, 446.01875, 446.03125, 446.04375, 446.05625, 446.06875, 446.08125, 446.09375; 446.10625; 446.11875; 446.13125; 446.14375; 446.15625; 446.16875; 446.18125; 446.19375.

NXDN (dPMR) is becoming more common.

True...but it is really bad if you cannot even put the frequencies in. The frequencies for FDMA PMR446 are strange, I know...

International bandplans are listed in the following https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1420/2702/files/TRX1E2E_05C22_Addendum.pdf?v=1653681044

For France, the frequency segment of 440.000 - 470.000 MHz is currently set to 6.25 kHz steps/FM
This would explain why you cannot enter in 3.125kHz steps at the present time.

We welcome feedback for future bandplan changes.
Please send scanner suggestions to scannersuggestions@whistlergroup.com

Important document from the CEPT: http://www.pmr446.org/ECCDec1505.pdf

From a technical view they assigned two bandplans in the same range, one could say:

Also, it is not a national decision, it is a CEPT decision...this makes the whole matter obscure.

2. that CEPT administrations shall designate the band 446.0-446.2 MHz for the use of analogue PMR 446
with a channel plan based on 12.5 kHz spacing where the lowest carrier frequency is 446.00625 MHz;
3. that CEPT administrations shall designate the band 446.1-446.2 MHz for the use of digital PMR 446 with
a channel plan based on 6.25 kHz and 12.5 kHz spacing where the lowest carrier frequencies are
446.103125 MHz and 446.10625 MHz respectively;
4. that CEPT administrations shall designate the band 446.0-446.2 MHz for the use of digital PMR 446 with
a channel plan based on 6.25 kHz and 12.5 kHz spacing where the lowest carrier frequencies are
446.003125 MHz and 446.00625 MHz respectively as of 1 January 2018;

The so called "lowest carrier frequency" of 446.003125 is the issue: To get this, you'd have to use 3,125kHz in the range 446.0 - 446.2 in Europe (as a whole).

The help file in EZScan says: "Frequency steps can be modified using the Flex Step option" but it doesn't seem to do anything for the 446MHz frequency range and seems to be disabled. It's still follows the bandplan step size when entering a frequency, both in EZScan and in the scanner. When enabling flex step it should always be possible to enter a frequency using the smallest step size of 3,125KHz.

Hi Ubbe!

Yes, it does not work with FlexStep...I tried everything.

Greetings to sweden...midsommar is already near...

Flexstep allows data entry increments of 1.25kHz however the until will tune to the closest frequency based on the step size from the selected bandplan related to the entered flexstep frequency.

What is the purpose of flexstep and when is it used, if it cannot modify the frequency step size used in the scanner?
