TSA in Philly is on the usual channels and is pretty boring for sure.

As for other channels they use, I now see some inspectors carrying FRS radios!

Those may be setup for the new federal Int Service. (FRS like) Name escapes me right now. The radios I had a chance to review in Newark were dead ringers for FRS radios. Right down to the $30 look.

The U.S Government version of the ICOM FRS radios operate on the following frequencys:

CH-01 396.8750
CH-02 397.1250
CH-03 397.1750
CH-04 397.3750
CH-05 397.4250
CH-06 397.4750
CH-07 397.5500
CH-08 397.9500
CH-09 398.0500
CH-10 399.4250
CH-11 399.4750
CH-12 399.7250

Those radios were first used by the USMC and now some other agencys use them.

is that in FM or AM, or P25?

FM although I have heard some P25 stuff on a few of those frequencys. The P25 stuff was originating from a Marine base locally.

I've heard 172.900 and 172.600 (FAA) both in P25 from about 20 miles away while mobile...

And yes, they carry radios. They were using them when I went through on Sunday headed for PDX.

No, the IC-4800M is not Encrypted. I have two sitting in a box of stuff I bought at a government auction, They look just like the Icom FRS counter part except they have a different microprocessor. I don't know about the new ones. I've been hearing unencrypted stuff on those frequencys every now and then originating from a Marine base.
