So I was leaving Norman to drive home to Bartlesville for the weekend, and as usual had my scanner with me in the truck. I decided to listen in on the highway patrol, and once I found something I used the "hold" feature to stay tuned in on it.
Not too long after that I hear about some wreck involving a maroon cadillac and a white cadillac (don't know the exact models). Anyway, they call for a wrecker, and then I also hear them request for a helicopter..
So it sounds interesting, but I have no idea where they're at. One guy mentioned he was "east of 201", but I didn't know where that was..
About 40 miles later, I encounter the scene! There are two life right helicopters on the road with blades turning, and you can see two pilots with helmets on.. And they're literally there in the road! Plus there's the typical highway patrol cars, in addition to fire, ambulance. Looked pretty crazy.
Luckily, that was on the westbound lane (as I was in the other one). Traffic for them was at a complete stop, and it wasn't opened until about a half hour later.
It's amazing though what you can pick up with the scanner - I was 40 miles away from the scene and could pick all that up.
Anyway, I hope those involved in the accident are okay..
