Turning AGC Off

Situation: I need to turn AGC off. Running Window 10 and it is difficult to impossible to turn AGC off. I would like to have an external sound card where I can positively disable all AGC or AVC control of the sound.

Question; Do you know of an external sound card that card that can ensure AGC and AVC if any is OFF?

AGC=Automatic gain control. AVC=Automatic volume control.

Actually that was not a good reply on my part. I’ll be using receivers with direct audio output to the external sound card that you recommend that can endure no AGC.

I have several of those but there is no specific button or control on them to turn off AGC. In Windows 10 the guidance is only to turn off letting the device control the output. But it doesn’t turn off AGC specifically in reality. Larry

The receiver used is of no concern as I can positively turn the receivers AGC off. I just need to ensure that the external sound card doesn’t apply it’s own AGC. Unmarked cheap dongles that I an aware of have no AGC buttons, or controls to ensure no AGC is being applied. Can’t rely on Windows 10 to do it.

I've only seen the mic input on some computers do AGC but never with line in. Those small external usb soundcards usually only has mic in but you can adjust its gain to handle line levels but AGC will still be there.

Very good point. So what I need to do is take the receiver high level output and send it to the computer line input. That may be the solution to this! I’ll give that a try Ubbe. Thanks so much!

Not the high level, the low level signal at -10dBm 100mV or something that standard line level uses, not speaker or other high level outputs.
