Greetings, all.

I have two operational questions about the PRO-96.

1- In the PRO-96, is there a way to mimick for talkgroups the "manual mode" of flipping through conventional frequencies? In manual mode, I can press the up/down arrows to cycle between frequencies. For talkgroups, I know I can go into the ID list and pick a talkgroup to listen to, but what if I want to just flip through them, kind of like channel surfing? It seems that going back and forth from ID list mode to ID Hold Mode would get very tedious.... is there a better way?

2- In the PRO-96, is there a way to just explore a trunked system without knowing any of the details of that trunked system? For example, take the Cary Public Safety System (http://radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=285) ... can I somehow scan that system and listen to the talkgroups on it, without actually programming them into my scanner? We have "TUNE" mode for conventional frequencies, but I haven't figure out a way to do that for trunked systems short of programming them into a memory slot and scaning that memory slot with the bank configured as an "open bank." Is there a better way?

Thanks, all.

1. No, there is no way to manually scrool through the talkgroups.

2. You can scan all the talkgroups on the system that are detected in the open mode, just put the control channel frequency in a channel, select the correct mode, and set the bank trunked mode (func + trunk, mode).

That's a bummer - in some situations it would be a useful feature.

Yeah, that's what I mentioned in my post - I just wondered if there was another way.

Thanks.

If you just wanted to 'check them out', you could create a simple 'conventional' system with as many frequencies as you felt like entering. Then, just scan that system. Depending on how busy that system is, some of the conversations will land on the same frequency; others will jump frequency (you can't trunk this system) so you can hit the arrow to try another frequency. Also, if you land on the control channel, just lock it out.
