• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Anyone know how you unlock the full frequency range on these suckers? Buddy of mine bought one and brought it to me to be programmed for our local FD etc and I can't find any info what so even on unlocking it to more than the ham bands. At this point I think his best bet is sending it back to Amazon for something else...

If you wish to transmit on the MD750 on frequencies outside the ham bands this radio doesn't have Part 90 FCC to be able to used on public safety.

It's not really authorized on public safety frequencies. A radio made for public safety like Motorola or Kenwood is much better choice. Also I wouldn't want to risk my life with a low cost chicom for being in fire fighting. The radios made for public safety are designed to hold up to in stuff like going into burning buildings.

In closing whatever agency has the FCC license has to give users premission to grant radios onto their system. With them being responsible for proper operating on their frequencies they need to unsure these radios are FCC Part 90 and not some Chinese low cost hobby radios.

Seeing how the OP is in Canada I don't think any of your FCC stuff applies.

Ok couple things here...

Firstly... This radio is not being used to transmit on any system. It's for a retired FF with our department who still wants to listen in.

Second, I'm the one that manages and maintains our equipment and the upper brass have absolutely no issue with it.

And lastly, we're in Canada so I couldn't really care what the FCC has to say. I just need it unlocked so it'll rx on the required frequencies.

I don't own the radio, so take my post for what it's worth, but the manual is not showing it locked to the ham bands are all, unless you buy the EU Amateur version. What frequency are you trying to get?

No idea if this is an EU model as he bought it thru Amazon here in Canada. Trying to program in the 140s and CPS just ignores it. At this point I think I'm going to advise him to send this POS back and I'll hook him up with something better.

Hey Fortis, did you ever manage to figure this one out? I recently picked up one of these radios today also through Amazon Canada and find that it's locked to the "US" 150-174/450-480MHz bands even though the labelled box and radio mention the 136-174/400-470MHz bands I look to gain access to, I tried the various unlocks known for the other models and they haven't worked, I am waiting on TYT to write me back hoping they have a solution.
