This is coming in extremely hot in Nassau County. I'm going to add it to the DB per your notes and tag it with Nassau County for now. I pulled back the Gain on DSDplus into the teens and it's still booming in here. When gain is in the single digits I start to lose packets.

It makes sense for it to be in Nassau or far eastern Queens. There was zero coverage in NYC or Western Nassau from the existing sites. I'll add 102 to the list for site hunting. I still suspect additional sites will likely go live and be found soon in Manhattan and somewhere in the Lower Hudson Valley (possibly White Plains area).

I'll be across from some towers in Plainview, LI tomorrow. I'll make sure to have the antenna off as I'm in visual distance from that location to see if I can hear anything on the scanner.

Other towers that might be of interest in this area for the signal strength I am pulling in is the county tower in Westbury, NY and Suffolk's Mt. Misery tower where they have their trunk system. And of course there is also Nassau University Medical Center. Anything on those four locations could be booming at my location.

The site locations show that federal buildings are the minority indicators of site locations (so far). I would suggest adding Farmingdale-Republic Airport to the list to check though @w2lie.
I really doubt there would be anything at republic airport. Mt. Misery is just to the north and that tower is loaded with public safety.

The only high spot at that airpot is the actual airport tower. (and the old tower)

Normally I would agree, but the Morristown Airport site is mounted on the roof of a vacant 2sty office building that isn't even taller than the highway behind it. Just mentioning it cause not everything with this system appears to be logical (I mean...it IS the government :ROFLMAO:).

Fair enough. Republic is about 10 minutes from my location by car. So if it is there, the signal strength I'm seeing would indicate that as a potential location.

But @dave3825 is also seeing it fairly strong from his location and he's about 30 minutes east of me, if we aren't sitting in bumper to bumper LI traffic ;)

One thing for sure, this is part of the hobby that I keep telling people they need to get into. There is more out there than hitting the scan button and listening to anytown PD. Searching and discovery is where this hobby gets really fun! And it's nice when you have a group of guys who are all in it together sharing information and looking for the same system.

Nice job everyone on all the work, and nice find Dave! Look at what you did ;)

I WHOLLY agree. You can ask GTR8000...this is kind of what my brother and I do. Going out and hunting down sites and details for the database. Plus the "not a spectator sport" line in my signature isn't for nothing. :)

Watch the peers for all the sites carefully everybody. I think we're going to have several more discoveries like Dave's great catch shortly.

@w2lie wasn't there a state pd repeater up in the Jones Beach tower? And could USCG station Jones Beach or Fire Island have something up on their towers? The CI court house is tall and so is NUMC. Just a thought.

I did mention NUMC as a potential location. I lost the control channel on site 102 after 9am and it still has not come back on the two frequencies that are in the DB.

I still can hear it, but barely. There was a pretty good band opening last night into this morn. I was getting the CC at like an S-4 or so. Now its just above the noise level. If it is Queens or Nassau, it must be VERY low power. I get most repeaters ect.. from Nassau and NYC at least S5, but mostly S-7 or better. This CC barely breaks the squelch now. In comparison, I am hearing my usual signal strengths right now, like NJICS Union site at like S2-3 ect..

I have noticed some of the frequencies in this new system were previously logged with CBP, FBI and ICE NAC codes in the tri-state area. For example,

171.6125 Previously Logged with NAC 207
171.825 Previously Logged with NAC 159 and 9C5
172.6625 Previously Logged with NAC 615 (unknown user)
171.4625 Previously Logged with NAC 24F
171.6875 Previously Logged with NAC 9C5

Signal way down on site 102. Zero activity on 122 & 117 other than active cc. Was lots of red on topo map last night. Now mostly yellow.
