I just began recording UIDs for a local Motorola Type II TRS (to program my 396XT). On the police side there are 3 dispatch consoles, but there are dozens of UIDs (from the same console) that pop up dependent on which talkgroup they transmit on. Is this normal? I assume thats how the TRS works?

Thanks

That is, in my experience, how it works - every radio "channel" a console can talk on has a separate RID.

I've also seen it as a different radio id for each dispatcher and shift.

I would think that it's just that certain dispatchers/shifts sit at certain consoles, unless you have something that goes against that.. I can't fathom a reasonable explanation for changing all the radio IDs in a console just because someone else is sitting there.

Maybe accountability for CAD is used with the radio id? I don't really know why. I'll I know is what I see on UniTrunker associated with the TGID as labeled and monitored. I'll try to ask the Sysop next time I see him or when I take another tour of the dispatch.
