Why is it I hear more chatter from across the river (Dutchess Co.) than I do in Ulster County? Dutchess simply busier and/or have more patrols? I live near Woodstock, NY and find this strange.

Here's what I have loaded... Are they correct?

More patrols out on the road. Another reason might be the UCSO uses their MDT's alot. These are just some of the possibilities. I hear the Kingston area patrols often.
The frequencies are correct. Your radio may not be "seeing" the other UC towers.
Hope that helped.

True. I generally get most hits from the North Tower. Now, I may already know it but, to clarify, what are MDT's? Thanks!

No,

Mobile Data Terminals. In other words, radio-linked computers (often ruggedized laptops, these days) mounted in the patrol cars.

I still find it hard to believe that while I can receive County from all towers on 155.025 I still haven't heard a peep on 155.9325 on any tower. Granted I have an older scanner and the closest I can get is either 155.930 or 155.935 plain FM, but this has never stopped me in the past.

Check your equipment. Coax, antenna, connectors, and where you have it located. Do you have an outside antenna etc. All these things come into play. I hear them all the time. Another thing tat does happen is UCSO sometimes reaches out to the cars on one tower and the cars respond back on a different tower. You live in an area that isn't a "hotbed" of S.O. activity so that may be another issue. AND again a lot of stuff is going out and in via MDT.

I don't know about using MDT, but how come I can receive all the towers on County and not an UCSO? Don't they use the same towers? When they were on 155.67 I could hear the whole county, which was interesting because I could hear the marine patrols on the river.

Today, Saturday, I tried programming 155.925 which I got from the NF2G pages, and I did get somebody calling a Shawangunk car via the Highland tower. They were answered and told to pick up a complaint in the CAD. The signal was almost as good as the local Pine Bush tower I can spit on, but this is not hard to believe since on the hill above Clintondale I can see just about the entire Shawangunk ridge. These places are HIGH!
