• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

i also get a weird beep sound but not always i don't know why but when i listen to my G5 without the base i never get this beeping sound and when on the base sometime i get this beep and sometime not

Mine does this as well. It’s like a chirp and the microphone light comes on. I gave up listening to mine in the cradle between that noise and the overall sound from that speaker.

I'm wondering if the two of you have the "alert" on for that talkgroup and that's why it's beeping. On tab 4 in the PPS for the "Group ID Setting", make sure you have "none" listed for the alert tone for the specific TG setting.

That's the indicator for an alarm - i.e: an alert occurance. Again, I'm guessing you might have an alert tied to a talkgroup. If you can zip and upload your PPS codeplug, we'll take a look.

Make sure the "Alert Tone" is showing NONE if what you are describing is happening on a trunking talk group.

For what its worth,
That particular light comes on every time my G5 receives a signal and I hear no beeps, only the amplified voice(s) of the radio traffic...

When sitting in the amplified charger, neither my G4 or G5's will alert on a QCII tone. The pager will go silent when it should be alerting and then open back up and receive the voice traffic. When they are off the amplified charger, and / or charging by USB, they will activate as normal.

I have no alerts set. Every time I have a transmission, the yellow horn light or alert light comes on. When the transmission ends, the light stays for a few seconds, then cuts off and when it cuts off, it makes a chirp noise. It’s pretty annoying.

I agree that you should zip up and post a copy of your working pps codeplug here so someone without this issue can compare and see what may be different.

Also, what version is your PPS software, what firmware level is your G5 at, do you have the DMR option installed on the G5?

I have no idea how to zip up a copy of the codeplug. But the version of PPS is the latest, and I updated my firmware a couple weeks ago. No DMR option.

I change all my alert to none and now I don’t have the beeping sound but still not working good when I scan multiple frequency but it’s ok if I don’t scan and leave it on only one frequency
