I don't believe you would be able to hear anything from the Cedar Falls area , just to far away . Public safety is line of site only.

I would find your local motorola radio store buy a 155 mhz nmo base kit and wire
put it on your roof /balcony / chimney what ever i live in sioux falls,sd
and have one on my roof and can pick up about 70 miles at times and i have just the antenna on my semi-18 wheeler and in iowa i can pick up a good ways get some kind of outdoor antenna it will be a night and day difference good luck/matt
