• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

With the new beta test firmware, the Bose QC35 headphones will now pair with the G5. However, even though D7 > General Setting > BT Headset Setting > BT Headset Incoming Call Notification is not enabled, I still receive the cue tone at the beginning of a transmission and the "Call Ended" at the end of the transmission.

I just paired my AirPods! I get a beep, beep beep tone in the beginning and do get the calls I get no "call ended" at the end. It sounds great. Maybe I can change some settings and get rid of the tone. Volume isn't the greatest, No more bugging people at work with my pager and I don't have to carry two different earbuds anymore. Thanks!

I just got a G5 this week and love it just like it is. By the looks of things, however, with hold on talkgroup and working BT in beta, looks like I made a great purchase decision with some exciting upgrades in the weeks and months to come. This is like the Tesla of radios!

Shoot, without any upgrades I think it is definitely the Caddy, maybe even the ‘Tesla’ of radios!
I’ll say it again, the Unication team should be incredibly proud of themselves! The product they offer is incredible and what is coming looks even more delicious.

Give yourselves a well deserved pat on the back Uni team: y’all deserve it!

Even tho they are BT5.0 (not BLE) these paired with my brand new G5 today! Woo Hoo!!!

Akaho Bone Conduction Headphones Open-Ear Wireless Bluetooth 5.0 HiFi Sweatproof IP55 Earphones with Microphone Sports Headsets for Running Driving Cycling $39

Had to turn on BT THEN turn on Headset, accept the 000000 and working great!

BTW: In my dealing with hearing aids I have found Apple is way ahead on that issue, Android still behind in bluetooth protocols direct with the phone and hearing aids. It seems the Apple set is just not implemented fully in most consumer non Apple devices. Android is still trying to catch up.

My AirPods quit working after I sent my G5 in for repair, they sent a different one back without the 1.4 beta I had installed on my old one, so now they no longer work. :(

May I ask why so many send these back? Anyone know? Was thinking I need 2 for a while, only bought 1 so far.

Mine kept rebooting when I would change knob positions, I couldn't turn it off and had to pull the battery to turn it off or change channels, it was always doing something weird and the charging port broke. I'd plug it in and would find the cord unplugged in the morning and a dead battery. I'd recommend a drop in charging base because the port won't hold up to plugging/unplugging much. It's not like I abused it just sitting on a desk. But there's another $100 for the base. No idea why thery're so spendy.

Thanks. Did it have the beta firmware. Is that the problem, or the $ and 5year warranty sez don't worry, we can fix it.

The micro USB cable needs the "tangs" reformed. Too much tang!
I would have preferred the USB mini, never break and you can tell which way they go in. Got the (problematic) amp/base ordered.
All in all, this G5 stuff is high Q stuff. The PPS is really good, after a Linda Blair head twisting day or two I kinda understand. Diff from GRE/Uniden for sure. Reminds me of the 3M 959 & up Laser Imager x-ray printer software I cut my teeth on. Once you understand the "undocumented features" (bugs),it gets you there. Very impressed w/Unication!

Yes, beta firmware. I love this thing, very difficult going back to the TRX-1 for a month when I sent the G5 back.

So, since the beta window is open, and the 1.50 is Obi Wan, (your only hope), I think I'll chew on this stock G5 euphoria for a while b4 jumping that train. It's 3 days in my hand, and I have plenty of bricks already.:p
