To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello I have this device Unication G5 I bought it together with the DMR VHF update. I tried programming the settings as shown in some youtube videos but it still isn't working for me. Also how can I verify if I even have the DMR update?

Something might be setup incorrectly in your programming.
Do you have the DMR Protocol setup, one for each time slot?
Did you define the conventional DMR frequency?
Did you setup a wildcard or the correct talk group in the Groups Tab?

Did you setup a conventional channel in the Zone/Key config window for the frequency on the first time slot?
Did you create a conventional channel in the zone / key config window for the frequency on the second time slot?
Did you create a conventional "normal scan" position in the zone / key config window for the two frequencies defined above?

1. Yes
2. Yes.
3. Yes, I think.
4. yes
5. yes
6. yes.

I have some pictures from the program, maybe you can see if I did something wrong.

you don't have the color code maybe just because of that

I thought it finds it automatically, isnt it?
If not where do I put it?

Try Normal Scan Mode rather than Monitor Mode, check the color code on the freqs.

One of the knobs are in Normal Scan, Should all be normal scan? how do you suggest me to change it in my picture of the knobs?

I know that. Does the OP?

Yes, I'm aware of that.

The OP is not trying to run it as a trunked system, he is entering all the freqs as conventional DMR and scanning them, a work around I use for a Motorola Type II system locally and it usually works well.

Exactly. It works on other device I have but not on this one and I can't figure out why.

That would be in the Zone/Key programming for the frequency. Looks like from your screen shots you have CC of 0.

No. Just the Z/K with all the frequencies you want to monitor. The individual frequencies should be monitor mode

That is interesting that it works on one and not the other. Are you loading the same codeplug into both?

Thank you so much for the help it works great now.
I have another question, Currently I have some frequencys and CC on protocol 1, Do I need to add another knob for the same frequency and CC but set it on protocol 2 or it doesn't matter? will it change something?

The protocol 1/2 alias is confusing. I would just rename them to Timeslot 1 and Timeslot 2, and that value would be set to match what you are trying to listen to. Some users/talkgroups might be on slot 1 while others on slot 2.

I agree with FORTS. I typically use the following when I define new protocols:

P25 Trunking = P25T
P25 Conventional = P25C
DMR Timeslot 1 = DMR TS1
DMR Timeslot 2 = DMR TS2
Motorola QCII Paging = QCII
Fast Plectron Paging = FP

This helps keep things manageable in my head when I am programming the zone/key windows so I don't accidentally put the wrong protocol in the frequency definition.
