• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So, assuming that this is legitimate AND it ever makes it to the United States market, how would this likely be different from the Unication G5?

Would it be multi-band, VHF high band, UHF and 700/800 MHz? Would it still have paging functionality?

I'm just hoping unication doesn't leave out the existing Gx owners that would like the updated scanner-like firmware that they had some users beta test. Maybe they put out the beta test for us to just test for their new "scanner".
That would suck but Unication has been pretty good

Interesting! Unication reps have alluded to this in the past. Was this just added to their Taiwan website?

Have you contacted Unication yet and asked them?

Yes, I have contacted Unication.

Generally, my experience has been that I find out as much, or more, from forums like this as I do from official sources, since they often have non-disclosure agreements in place. However, considering what Fmulder13 posted, we very well may continue to hear more details.

This new scanner version will not have paging ability according to my source. I don't think you will see anything on this project soon at all.
The current G4 and G5 Pagers with the TG hold and Block is still one of the most solid way to monitor a P5 system. Also watch for new PPS coming available with complete RR database download capabilities for the current G-Series. 130141277_217576579751014_2717377823509718304_n.jpg

i always wondered why they just don't make 1 pager and you choose what freqs you want. Just like an APX8000 if you want 1 its a price and if you want to upgrade you pay a price and they send you an upgrade to add...The G series make 1 pager and that's it
Just think a G5 with all the bands, How great, and before you say it cant do it the APX8000 is about the same size and does TX so the electronics would be no issue fitting it in the current size, Oh and while your at it make the external antenna do all the bands like the multi band radios...Then you could make a good multi band antenna that would be useful :)

They still have many issues to fine tune. Does that new PPS allow you to import radio IDs? We can alpha-tag 999 of them, but I've contacted them several times to make a .csv import feature. Its as simple as how I import talk groups now. But they still have not created that simple button.

a lot of issues but seriously still for the price point it blows everything else out of the water as far as reception and performance

The latest PPS that I have is V0.3.17 Beta 10, and it does not allow the import of radio IDs.

Whoa, G4 G5 outstanding platform and I can overlook much. Sometimes things get lost in translation over to TW.

I sure hope the scan speed is not overlooked in any new product development.

This would be a huge miss if the speed stays as is. In fact for me, a deal breaker.

It's gonna nix the internal antenna, add an external speaker jack, increase the audio volume, make blue tooth work with everything and no beeps, fix any and all firmware glitches, use AA batteries, and add more knobs, is what it's gonna do. ;)

Not only will it include all that, but I hear it will also have a corkscrew, a bottle opener, a pair of scissors, tweezers, and a compass! Oh, and its reception will be flawless in every respect 100% of the time... If not, that's a deal breaker.
