My area is mostly analog VHF and UHF. Does the Uniden 260DN allow for programming directly from RR. I understand it comes with its own software?

ARC260 and ProScan support downloading from Radio Reference database. I do not see that option on the free software from Uniden.

Yes it does, though ARC260 and ProScan likely offer more functionality. Select the page below, then hit the 'Downloads' tab

I have the Uniden software, but I do not see a way to download from the RR database. How do you do it? The Downloads tab on that link is just for downloading manuals, the software, and firmware updater. I can't find a manual for the Uniden software. I give up! What am I missing?

In the Sentinel software for your model, click "Update", then click on "Update Master Database (HPDB)". This is the RR database, as curated by Uniden for all their newer models, since the HomePatrol series.

Haven't a clue about how you would download from RR using the Uniden software. Really @JoeBearcat this ought to be in your software. That's part of the reason why I said ARC260 and ProScan have more functionality. Uniden really doesn't know much about writing software....

There's no Sentinel version for the 260DN so this will be of no value to the OP
Mike, I find it is interesting that this is in the link you provided:

PC PROGRAMMING
Use the free Uniden software BCDX60DN SS and BC VUP to manage your scanner’s Profiles, Favorites Lists, Databases, and firmware updates.

I didn't realize that the BCDx60DN scanners have profiles and favorites lists. I thought that it only has banks. Maybe, I should try using Sentinel. :)

I am not totally surprised by this; if they can't even write a decent manual, how can they write a decent web page? Obviously their proof reading just plain stinks
