Uniden 396xt question- "cuts out" while scanning

Hello,

When listening to my scanner and when picking up a frequency, there seems to be a "cut out" in mid transmission like it is in some sort of "priority mode", like on an older scanner model when you'd have the Priority Scan on and every few seconds it would cut out to scan the channels you'd have set as Priority channels. I use my scanner for both older VHF channel scanning back home in SW MN and also for the ARMER system near the Twin Cities... it seems to only happen when I'm scanning on VHF channels. It becomes very annoying as you miss half of what is said. I have the Priority scanning set to off, what else could be causing this "cut in" and loss of transmission?

Any advice or help would be great!

Wthr priority or Close call?

In just checking my scanner settings, both CC and Priority are set to off- I'll get 3-5 seconds of clear talking transmission, about 2-3 seconds of cut out, and then back to the transmission. During this time, it stays on the frequency, so the transmission is not lost, it just seems like the scanner is "looking elsewhere" for something.

I'm thinking Weather Dan...

Is there a "WX" on the screen, or the little "C" symbol with a rifle scope looking pattern around it?

Ah Ha! Nope it wasn't close call, but yes, WX alert was on. I didn't think about that one that it would cause a cut out like that, but sure enough I think your right on. I've always just left the alert on and needed it tonight with the weather going through SW MN. Now that it's off, seems to be working great with no loss mid- transmission.

That weather scanning will do it every time. I found that out the hard way trying to figure out why my scanner was cutting out. Only I accidently bumped the WX button without meaning to do so.
