I tried doing a firmware update and hit a snag. The uploaded started erasing then just stopped. Now the screen just flashes and I keep getting errors on the uploader. I've tried holding "2" "9" and "hold" while turning it on to reset but it deosnt work. Any other ideas? I've seen posts with people having same problem but no answers.

Read the trouble shooting section, I believe you have to start the process all over starting from the beginning following all the steps.

I had the same problem a few years ago when I tried updating mine and got the infamous blue screen of death. I called Uniden described what happend they said send the scanner in and they fixed it with no charge.

Call Uniden first for instructions on what to do.

I myself will never attempt to upgrade firm ware again.

Make sure you get some type of a reference number for confirmation purposes.

After 2 weeks went by I called to check on my scanner and they had a hard time locating it.

That was my situation.

"Press and hold L/O and 6 and power the scanner back up. The screen should be blank and backlit. This is a good thing.

At this point, begin again at very the beginning of the official Uniden procedure and perform the steps exactly as laid out. Take your time. While it only takes a few minutes to do an upgrade, it will take longer to thorougly understand the steps and get all of the details straight if it is your first time to do it or have not done it in a while. I've tried reloading the firmware several times. I've done firmware upgrades before with the 396t without much trouble. The only thing I can think of is the scanner doesn't like the serial to usb convertor I'm using but it's never been an issue before.
