I found an adapter that says: model AD-140U
Input AC 120V 60hz 14w
Output DC 12v 500mA
Could some one ID and tell me if this goes to a uniden scanner and which one. Thank you

That's really going to depend on what model. Most of the base/mobile scanners use 12v power. But the handhelds are another matter. The newer ones, 5V via USB, but some of the older models use either 6 or 9V.

As long as your scanner input voltage is 12V and requires 500mA or less--and is wired for the correct polarity--it should work.

Many European power supplies use the same plugs but have reversed polarity. I've found that particularly true in power supplies for music accessories (pedals, preamps, etc.) When necessary, I've simply cut and spliced the wire appropriately. Now the industry usually prints the polarity on the equipment and the power supply. On line, you have to look for the information.

No. Usually the prongs are US. Just the polarity is different. Go figure.
