Uniden BC 296D and Austin scaning

Is the Uniden BC 296D compatible with the Austin / Travis county system if not does anyone know of a good but reasonable scanner for our area?

It should be. As long as it can track 9600 baud Motorola ASTRO systems. I would recommend the BC396D, which is better (and can hold more talkgroups per system). I'm sure you've heard all about it already, but the new GRE PSR500 might be a good choice.
